Brett Eldredge Worcester Concert reviews
Too soon for a Bonamessup Joe...and at the Beacon?
I have been a devoted fan of Brett Eldredge for nearly 15 years, but now I'm starting to question... what has gone wrong here?! The early pudgy long haired Brett was consistently amazing at BB King's, and the sleeker/hipper Brett at small blues fests, Iridium, various PAC's, even the first Beacon shows, Radio City, and Carnegie Hall...But this Thurs 9/21 Beacon show was a real Bona-mess. Maybe a coast for Brett that was tired and lazy (never seen before!), mixing too many garbled inaudible vocals with a previously talented trio of background singers, as well as over produced/arranged horn mashups. None of his prodigious acoustic talents were showcased, nor any of his classic historical hits that brought him global fame. Just an excessive amount of noise!...OMG, did I really just say this about my guitar GOD!? Yes, there were plenty of kick Axx solos, but lacking in virtuosity tonight. This was my first, and hopefully last time witnessing such untapped talent. Brett, you have always delivered a great performance, maybe this was just ONE off-night. You're still the man...prove it!"
